The pollutants are emitted by road traffic close to the ground and float in the air for many hours or even days depending on the particle size. How long the individual fine dust particles remain in the air depends on their type, size and weather conditions. Larger particles sink to the ground faster, but can be whirled up again by traffic. Smaller particles with a diameter smaller than approx. 20 μm have almost no sinking speed. These particles can remain in the atmosphere between 2 and 20 days before they are washed out by rain, for example. The release of these particles close to the ground therefore poses the greatest health risk.
Especially the small and smallest respirable particles are difficult or impossible to separate by conventional fabric filters. Our technology knows no lower particle limit. City Air Cleaning sucks in the air close to the ground at the edges of the streets. After a pre-cleaning process, the dust is electrically charged and thus separated extremely effectively. This electrostatic cleaning process has been proven to separate 99.9% of the dust load in large plants. Our systems have been successfully used there for decades and meet the highest quality requirements with low maintenance and operating costs.
Up to three quarters of nitrogen dioxide pollution also comes from motorized road traffic. After dedusting, the gaseous pollutants are separated in a further cleaning stage. Specially developed activated carbon filters ensure effective cleaning of nitrogen oxides or other gaseous pollutants.
City Air Cleaning was developed by us specifically to improve urban air quality. The plants are installed at the roadsides of particularly polluted streets. The space required is small and corresponds to that of a car parking lot. The polluted air is cleaned on site and then added back to the ambient air.
Our plants are transportable and can be moved if required. Energy is supplied, for example, from the existing supply lines for street lighting or the charging points for electromobility.
Let us work together to develop and technically implement the air pollution control concept necessary for your requirements.
